Closing Remarks
Closing remarsk of DrSc. Luis Carlos Silva, President of the Scientific Committee of the VII International Congress of Health Informatics
When concluding an encounter of this nature it is forced to give some summary informations, not necessarily baering laudatory trials in all senses.
The Scientific Committee considers, however that the balance is, in spite of some accidents, highly positive.
Five precongress courses were imparted successfully, 3 of them in charge of foreign specialists.
We had 11 lectures of very high level that were assisted by an important number of delegates and they produced many and sustantivas interventions.
There were presented 70 present papers foreseen almost in its entirety.
The program of four round tables was executed, although they didn't have an uniform acting. Some, as those prepared by the University of Computer Sciences, was lively and converged; other they were it less.
The poster session (35 in total) it was executed formally, but in our opinion, their logic was not always very understood by the exhibitors neither well known by the delegates, so it will be necessary to reconsider and to reorder the organization of this modality in the future.
120 virtual papers were presented. This is a communication variant that began on February 10th, and it will extend for one month (up to March 10th). In these first three days of congress, dozens of comments took place; but it is necessary to wait that such a participation and exchange is increased during the month, since this website has today 1101 enrolled people.
It was successfully carried out the Workshop on Health Virtual Campus favored by the PAHO with 13 foreigner participation and 40 Cubans from 28 institutions.
In total they participated in the Congress 47 foreigners from the following countries: Venezuela, Costa Rica. Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Spain, Norway, Belarus, Canada, and Turkey; and 85 Cubans that the number places that we were granted in the context of a complex Convention as the one that contains the Congress of Health.
The Scientific Committee wants to thank the enormous support of the PAHO and INFOMED, as well as to highlight the work of Presidents, Secretaries and Tellers for their seriousness, disciplines and personal delivery.
Our work in general takes place in a context of material means precariousness that many colleagues, specially foreign, don't know or are not able to assess completely. In fact, we do our best to make it this way. Many times we are able to replace the resources with our will, our sensibility and with the warmth of the Cubans who feel each foreign presence as a privilege and therefore, as a commitment.
Thank you very much
