About Cuba

Located in the entrance of the Gulf of Mexico, in the middle of Caribbean Sea, the Republic of Cuba is in fact an archipelago formed by the Island of Cuba, the Island of Island (considered as special municipality) and for 4 195 keys and islands that reach a surface of 110 860 Km2 in total. The nearest countries are Haiti, United States, Jamaica and Mexico.
In Cuba there is always good weather, because this welcoming and multicolored land enjoys the so called ideal tropical climate: sunny, with an annual mean temperature of 25 grades Celsius. Summer temperature mean is 27 grades Celsius, and in winter 21. The freshest months are December, January and February, and the hottest, July and August.

Capital: Havana, population 2 200 000 inhabitants.
Official language: Spanish.
Surface: 110,860 Km2 (42, 843 mi2).
Population: 11 200 000 inhabitants. (density of population:101 inhabitant x Km2).
Racial composition: 60% Spanish origin, 22% mulattos and mestizo, 11% African origin and 1% Chinese origin.

Religion: 47 Catholic%, 4% Protestants, 2% santería and African cults (many Catholics also practice it).

Currency: Cuban peso (CUP) and convertible Cuban peso (CUC). Credit cards drafted against North American banks do not have validity in Cuba, so they will not be accepted.

Electricity: 110 volts
Clothing: Summer clothes and light jackets in the evenings. The halls of the Palace of Conventions are acclimatized and it is advisable some slight coat to wear during sessions.
Visa: To travel to Cuba it is required to have visa or tourist's card. Tourist's card can be acquired through the travel agencies representatives of the event. Also, you can request Visa in the corresponding embassy or consulate of Cuba in your country with not less than 45 days of advance to your trip.
Invitation letter: If it is requested, the Secretary of this Event will gladly send a personal invitation. It should be understood that this letter does not mean a financial commitment on behalf of the organizing committee.
